Motivational Change

Josh knows that strict rules and quick fixes rarely work, and often just create more conflict at home. That is why Skill Tree Psychology’s approach combines evidence based principles from self determination theory with practical parent strategies.

Josh focus on three key areas:

Choicesupporting children and teens to feel some sense of control, while guiding parents on how to offer structure that does not feel like punishment.

Skillsbuilding everyday abilities like managing routines, responsibilities, and emotions, and when children are not ready to engage directly, parents are supported to coach and model these skills.

Connection strengthening family relationships so home life feels calmer and more cooperative, even when gaming remains a challenge.

With this approach, gaming becomes just one part of life, rather than the centre of it, and parents feel equipped to make progress even when their child finds it hard to take part in treatment.
